Visit to Karuna Nursery 2017-18

Students of class V were taken to a field trip for Karuna Nursery on 12th July as a part of their extended learning. The nursery had all types of plants viz. desert plants, aquatic plants, ornamental plants and variety of grasses. The students had real life experience as they identified a variety of plants and learnt about their habitat with adaptations

Red Day Celebration

Red day was celebrated in our school premises for the tiny tots of Pre KG. Students and teachers was dressed up in red .Students were able to identify the colour and speak about it. They enjoyed the show and tell activity immensely.

Interschool Competitions

Vanavani School organised Vanfest 2017 for various schools. Our school won prizes in the following events: Fun with Math, Face Painting, JAM and Paper cup craft. National Public school conducted various competitions for schools on 28th July. We are proud to say that one of our student Ms. Soorya Narayanan of Class VII won the third prize in English Declamation.

Guest Lecture - Cardiologist

A Guest lecture by Dr. Veena, a Cardiologist, Fortis Hospital, Adyar, Chennai , was organised for the children of U.K.G on the theme Health & Hygiene. The doctor spoke about the healthy habits, healthy food and personal hygiene. The attractive PPT kept the kids engrossed in the proceedings.

Visit to Pazhamudhir Nilayam 2017-18

As per the curriculum, the kids of LKG visited Pazhamudhir nilayam to see various types of exotic fruits and vegetables. They were thrilled to have hands on experience of feeling the texture, colour & size of each fruit and vegetable. It was a huge learning experience which they thoroughly enjoyed.

The Science Club organized a painting competition for the topic 'My Universe' for class V on 21st July 2017. This painting competition brought out the creativity and imagination of the students. The paintings gave us a glimpse of ‘The Universe’ viewed through the eyes of the students.

Math Club Activity July 2017-18

The Math Club organised various activities for the students of class VI, VII,VIII & IX on 22nd July 2017. Class VI students enthusiastically participated in TANGRA, a Chinese puzzle solving activity which teaches kids about spatial relationship, geometric terms and develop problem solving skills. Students of Class VII participated in Kakuro’ puzzle solving competition with zeal and explored all possible ways to get the unique solution. Class VIII students was engaged with a fun filled brain exerciser called KENKEN, a Japanese puzzle which trains the brain in exploring the basic operations, factors, algebraic thinking and various problem solving strategies. The students Class X were involved in ‘HASHI’ Puzzle solving. Research states that solving these puzzles helps the player to use their general knowledge, memory, spatial imager, logic and problem solving skills.

SPORTS DAY 2017-18

The 8 th Annual Sports Day of our school was held on 15th July 2017 in D.B Jain College at Thoraipakkam. We were privileged to have as our guest of honour Mrs.Amrit Ramana Prasad, Trustee, BVM Global group of schools, who was welcomed by the school band. She hoisted the flag and declared the meet open. The March Past by the students was followed by various track events in which the athletes were cheered on by their respective house students. Students showed enthusiastic participation and exemplary performance in demonstrating kalaripayattu, Pyramid, and Aerobics. Dr.R. Desingurajan, Director of Sports DB Jain College was the chief guest and gave away the prizes. The overall winner was Godavari house while Yamuna House bagged the much coveted March Past Trophy

Workshop - Beyond the Horizon 2017-18

Mr Ramana Prasad, Managing Director of BVM Global Group of Schools, conducted an interesting interactive session “Beyond the Horizon ‘for students of classes X and XI on July 7th 2017.Mr Prasad stressed on the statistics which gave an insight into the alarming rate at which our Earth is facing destruction. He gave inputs on how the world is looking into various methods wherein they can reduce pollution. Advancement in technology will lead to driverless cars, cars running on electricity and reduce the space constraints that the world is encountering right now. The world will witness a rapid change in health industries. Many diseases which are considered critical will vanish. Students enjoyed the Power point presentations which had various eminent speakers in the research field revealing the future global world.

A workshop was organised by Madhuban publishers which was held at BVM Global @ Perungudi. The resource person was Ms.NirmalDwivedi. The workshop was attended by and Hindi teachers of BVM Global group of schools. This workshop extensively dealt with teaching of grammar through discussions which can be incorporated.

Our students participated in GLITZ 2K17 an Inter School Competition conducted by Jeppiar Matriculation School on 24th August 2017 and did us proud by winning a number of prizes. Thanuja of class IX A won First prize in SHIPWRECK and Rithanya of Class IV won third prize in CUT AND PASTE . Our teams also bagged prizes in BEAT THE BEAT and in INFLORE ON FLOOR

VINAYAKA CHATHURTHI 2017-18

VinayakaChathurthi, was celebrated at BVM GLOBAL @ Perungudi with the usual fanfare. Lord Ganesha was worshipped with solemnity as students chanted slokas in reverence of the God. Students of primary, secondary and senior secondary classes actively and enthusiastically participated in the celebrations. Students rendered classical concerts glorifying Lord Ganesha and expressed their devotion. The vocalists were accompanied by various instrumentalists. The occasion was graced by the presence of students, parents and teachers. This grand celebration ended with prasadham distribution to the gathering. Everyone was showered with Lord Ganesha’s blessings.

RALLY FOR RIVERS – CAMPAIGN

A campaign ‘Rally for Rivers’ was conducted in our school by Isha Foundation to create awareness among the student community on August 23, 2017. Students were apprised about the alarming rate at which our rivers are getting depleted and the urgent need to nourish and restore them back to their full glory.

TRADITIONAL GAMES AND MATH BEHIND IT

Our teachers attended the Math workshop which was conducted in Ramanujan Museum – Math education centre. Dr.Vinitha who is a Journalist and her team members of Kreeda organised the program. The program was very interesting. It was about using our traditional games to teach the concepts of math. Through these games children will be able to do problem solving and analytical thinking.

WILD WISDOM QUIZ 2017-18

The Environment Education division, WWF -India, launched the Wild Wisdom Quiz-2017 which is India's only national level and Asia's biggest quiz on wildlife at school level. Our school conducted the exam on 21st August 2017. 112 students participated for the exam out of which four were selected for city level exam.

KRISHNA JAYANTHI CELEBRATION 2017-18

Our Primary students participated enthusiastically in the Krishna Jayanthi and Independence Day celebrations. The program began with Krishna puja followed by the welcome speech. Students of Classes IV & V delivered speeches related to the recent achievements of India, in different languages. Students of Class V spoke about the importance of Krishna Jayanthi and also explained the different ways in which Krishna Jayanthi is celebrated all over India. The songs sung by the children were enthralling. The dances were charismatic and impressive. Flags and chocolates were distributed to the children. KG KRISHNA JAYANTHI CELEBRATIONS 2017-18 Krishna Jayanthi was celebrated with great pomp and show. Children participated in all the events enthusiastically. The program comprised of Krishna pooja , speeches which spoke about the significance of the festival and how it is celebrated across the nation, songs and dance performances. On the whole, the student enjoyed the celebrations.

BITWISE TRAINING 2017-18

A workshop on SCRATCH 2.0 was conducted by Bitwise Technology, California on 15 August, 2017 in our Perungudi Campus. Students of classes 6 and 7 from Perungudi and BHS participated in the workshop. Mr.Soorya and Mr.Venkatwere the resource people. Mr Venkat explained the various OOPs concepts using interactive online software, which has many useful features and caters to the needs of learners at different levels.

INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATIONS 2017-18

The 71stIndependence Day was celebrated with great splendour, joy and respect for India by our students of Classes VI to XI. The celebration was also attended by the parents. The national flag was unfurled by Miss.MithaliSarath of Class IX (the first admission among girls in the class IX batch of 2017 – 2018). The event was marked by the singing of the National Anthem which was followed by other songs, speeches and a dance performance. Sweets were distributed to all the students at the end of the function

ANNUAL DAY 2017-18

The 8th annual day celebrations of the school was celebrated on 12th August 2017 in Madhavan Nair Auditorium, Jeppiar Engineering College, Sholingnallur. The theme for this year’s annual day was ‘Stree -- the saga of a woman’. The event began with an impressive orchestra saluting the great men of the land. It was followed by series of colourful and scintillating dance performances of the tiny tots and the primary students. .. The Hindi play was powerful and captivating sending a strong message. It was well supported by a mime and Ganga dance. The Sanskrit play took us back to the Vedic period when women were revered. It’s grand and appealing costumes enhanced the effect .The Tamil play brought forth the powerful and beautiful aspects of women very realistically. The programme came to an end with a stunning dance drama and a culmination showcasing the woman as Shakti. The entire event was held together by a most powerful narration by our senior students.

ASSET EXAM 2017-18

Asset exams were conducted for classes IV to X in English, Science and Math from 8th to 10th August. It uses multiple-choice questions to focus on measuring how well SKILLS and CONCEPTS underlying the school syllabus have been understood by the student. It was an exposure for all the students to attempt the competitive exam in effective manner.

ELECTROCHEMISTRY AND CORROSION CAMP

Our students participated in the 11th Electrochemistry and Corrosion Camp (ECC-2017) jointly organized by NACE International Gateway India section south zone(NIGIS-SZ) and department of analytical chemistry, University of Madras, Chennai, supported by National Institute of Ocean technology (ESSO-NIOT) Chennai. Our school won the second prize for poster making in the junior level. The camp was a wonderful opportunity for our students to explore their knowledge regarding the need of rust resistant materials as well as how to design them.

A few students of classes VIII, IX & X were escorted by our teacher to visit the inmates of Adyar Cancer Institute on 5thof August, 2017 as a part of Karuna Club activity. Our students offered apples and dates to the patients The visit gave the students an insight into the suffering of these people and instilled in them a feeling of caring .

RAKSHA BANDHAN CELEBRATION 2017-18

The students celebrated the occasion of RakshaBandhan with the officers of Indian Navy and Indian Police Force (neighbouring police station at Thoraipakkam). As a mark of honour to the marine heroes, a patriotic song and a dance was performed by the students. The Captain addressed the students and spoke about the services of the Indian Navy to the nation. The Commissioner of Police gave an insight about the duties and responsibilities of the police force, their work profiles, etc. Later, the girls tied rakhis to the officers and offered sweets as a token of appreciation to them. The officers reciprocated by offering snacks to the students. They also motivated the students to take up the responsibility to serve the country. This event is to express our gratitude to the men in uniform and inculcate a spirit of patriotism and respect for one’s motherland amongst students.

INVESTITURE CEREMONY & INAUGURATION OF CLUBS The elected and nominated members were vested with their responsibilities and honoured with badges by our Principal. The Guest of honour Ms. Jayanthi, (Deputy Director, Education Department, BVM Global Group of Schools) gave away the prizes to the students who had excelled in the AISSCE in the year 2016-17. She highlighted the role of the office bearers and encouraged them to take an active part in all the school activities. Two new clubs –viz. the Robotics club and Horizon club have been introduced this year.

EID MUBARAK 2017-18

Eid-ul-Fitr marks the culmination of the fasting and holy month of Ramzan. The programme started with the Islamic Prayer followed by its translation in English and Tamil. Students of class V gave an English speech about Ramadan and its significance followed by Tamil Islamic songs. Javed of class X recited the Quranic verses which were translated in English by a student of classes III. The celebration was concluded by an English song by the students of class IV

The Fete de la Musique, also known as World Music . Day was celebrated on 21st June 2017, in the school auditorium. The purpose of celebrating music day is to to explore new musical trends and music from across the world, and revive traditional music. FIRST AID CLASS FOR GRADE X 2017-18

The students of Class X participated in a two day, First Aid Course (Saturday & Sunday) in our school premises. It was conducted by Lecturer Mr. L. Ramesh of St. John Ambulance. This is a part of the Co-scholastics skills mentioned by CBSE curriculum. The students learnt about the functions of human body, the different kinds of wounds and injuries, how to provide first aid and also handling and transporting of injured person. Post session the students wrote a test based on which they were evaluated.

VISIT TO MUSEUM 2017-18

Our teachers of The Social Science Department were invited by Intach to visit the museum at Egmore. The visit was organised to enrich and enlighten about the artefacts and other exhibits in the museum. A resource person Mr. Suresh explained the origin, story and relevance of the artefacts and exhibits.. Overall the visit was educative and purposeful. Our teachers will definitely enrich our students with the knowledge they gained.

AKSHARABHYASAM & ORIENTATION PROGRAMME

Aksharabhyasam, the auspicious beginning of formal learning for the tiny tots of 2017 -2018 started in a positive note amidst the chanting of slokas. The pooja was performed by our Sanskrit teacher, Mr Sankar who initiated the children to the world of knowledge by chanting slokas. Children were made to write, “Om” in their mother tongue on the Aksharabhyasam rice plates. There was an orientation program for the parents.

VISIT TO WARSHIP INS CHENNAI

The students of class VII were taken to visit the newly commissioned naval warship – INS Chennai at the Naval Headquarters, which arrived on 15th April morning. Our children had the great privilege of welcoming the warship by waving the National Flag. The ship was anchored at The Chennai Port. This visit was a great experience for our children and they were very excited to see the design and arms in the ship which was equipped to fight nuclear, biological and chemical warfare conditions.

PUPPET SHOW 2016-17

The KG Puppet show was held as a part of reinforcement of themes. The show was conducted by the KG teachers on 22nd March 2017.Hand puppets and picture cutouts were used to portrait the story based on animals. Children were able to relate the theme and enjoy the rhymes and the story, with full involvement. They were fully involved and enjoyed the programme thoroughly.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 2016-17

The Annual General Body meeting was held in the School Auditorium on 15/03/17 at 04: 30 p.m. The meeting commenced with the school prayer followed by the report which was read by the PTA Representative Ms. Aparna. Project Day (MCRL) 2016-17

MCRL Project Day was held on March 4th 2017. MCRL (Meta Cognitive Reflective Learning) classes were conducted for the Students of classes VI&VII. They used sensors to carry out variety of experiments, collected data from these experiments and then analyzed & evaluated. After 15 classes, students were given topics to work on the project. They worked on the project for 3 classes and displayed well. Students displayed their projects with models, Animation, Presentation with MCRL kit and Charts. Mr.Ekambaram, Vice President, Enterprise Business Solutions was invited as the Chief Guest. The best project of Classes VI &VII was chosen based on their Display, Information and Team Work.

National Science Day 2016-17

The National Science Day was celebrated on 28th February 2017 with great fervor and gusto. Harshav of class V gave a speech, in the Assembly, on the importance of Science Day. Our Principal Ms. Debjani Ghosh inaugurated the day’s proceeding by planting a sapling. The students of primary classes planted saplings, a whopping 110, in the school campus. Students of class VIII contributed by naming all the plants and trees which were inside the school campus. The trees and plants were labeled with their botanical names. Students of class VI and VII added their bit to the celebrations by displaying charts of different generation of computers and also of scientists and their discoveries. The students emphasized the use organic food and avoidance of junk food. They also stressed on the need to avoid using plastics in day to day life.

Vaccination camp 2016-17

As per the directive from the health department of Chennai Corporation, a Measles and Rubella vaccination campaign was conducted in BVM Global @ Perungudi on Monday 13th February, 2017 in the school campus. The parents were informed and their consent was sought. Doctors from the health department came and vaccinated the students who were accompanied by the parents.

FIELD TRIP CLASS VIII 2016-17

Class VIII students were taken for a field trip to Mahabalipuram on 18.02.2017. They started at 9.05a.m from the School with 31 students, 3 teachers, two attenders and a driver. They reached Mahabalipuram at 10.05 a.m. they visited the Seashore Temple, Shell Museum, Aquarium, the Five Rathas and the Butter ball. They saw many rare types of shells including the Breath Maria, one among the four in the world in shell museum. It was very informative and the students learnt a lot there. Students enjoyed the trip very much and returned to school at 3.45 p.m.

Field Trip Class I- 2016-17

Field trips serve one vital function as far as education is concerned. Field trips link the classroom with the outside world. It not only improves learning, but also gives both the learner and educator valued practical experience. The students of Class I were taken on a fun-filled educational field trip to Guindy Children’s Park and Snake Park on 18th February, Saturday, 2017. The children were looking forward to the day with great anticipation. On reaching the park they got a chance to see the different types of birds, reptiles and animals. Their curiosity was immense and they had many questions for the teachers which were answered. After this they had their lunch and played in the park. They enjoyed the day with great enthusiasm. It was a great learning experience for the students.

FIELD TRIP (PRE-KG, LKG& UKG)

Pre-Kg went for a bus ride on 16th of February 2017 as part of their transport theme. They enjoyed seeing the different modes of transport and the traffic signal. They were very happy to see the train going on a track and on the overhead bridge. It was an enjoyable ride for the kids. The LKG children were taken to a vegetable market named “PazhamudirCholai” in Shastrinagar on 20th February 2017 where they could feel and touch the fruits and vegetables. They could identify their names with their colours and textures. They realised that some fruits and vegetables had a different colour when cut. This was a learning outcome for them. It was an informative and useful trip for them. The UKG Children went to a Goshala on 6th February 2017 as part of their field trip. They enjoyed seeing 40 to 50 cows in one place and were very excited to feed them. The calves were their favourite because they could touch them. The process of milk packaging was explained to them. It was a memorable trip for the children in which they related their classroom teaching to real life situations.

STUDENT EXCHANGE PROGAMME BHS

The Student exchange program in BVM GLOBAL GROUP OF SCHOOLS is something which students anticipate every year. This year, BVM GLOBAL @ BOLLINENI HILLSIDE hosted the program.Four students of Class VI attended the exchange program accompanied by a teacher. It was a 3 day program in which the students were taken to spots like Birla Planetarium, DakshinChitra, etc. They also got an opportunity to interact with the students of other branch schools. This opportunity not only helped them to get a broader outlook but also made them more confident. The students totally enjoyed the program.

FIELD TRIP CLASS IV

Students of class 4 went on a field trip to the ‘ICF Railway Museum.’ Trains have always fascinated people and our young budding minds were no exception. They were full of zeal and enthusiasm throughout the trip. The children took a detailed tour around the steam and diesel engines on display. They got an insight into the history of India and her railway heritage when they viewed the coaches (Saloon) that once belonged to the Maharaja’s and officers of the higher rank. The children listened to the curator in rapt attention as he explained in detail the intricacies of changing the tracks, signals and the movement of the locomotives. He also graciously clarified the questions posed by the children. The highlight of the trip was the joy train ride, which the children enjoyed immensely. The ‘Miniature Railway’ inside the museum had on display a replica of the Central station complete with the working model of an electric engine. Overall, the visit proved to be pleasurable learning experience.

Math Club Class 5

On 3rd February Math Club activity was conducted on the topic “Measurement”. Children were asked to measure the area and perimeter of rectangular and square objects (only 3) seen in the class room (like window, door etc.) Children who completed first with correct measurement were awarded the first prize. It was an interesting experience for all the children.

English Olympiad 2016-17

The International English Olympiad (IEO), 2016-17 was conducted on the 1st February, 2017 at BVM Global@ Perungudi. Students from classes VI to X participated in the IEO. They gathered in the auditorium, question papers were distributed and the children used their knowledge of comprehension and grammatical concepts to find out the answers. It was a successful venture which aimed at developing their comprehension and grammatical skills.

BLOOD DONATION CAMP 2016-17

As a part of Karuna and Interact club activity a blood donation camp was organized on 26th January 2017 at BVM GLOBAL @ Perungudi. Our students and teacher volunteers put up posters and campaigned to spread awareness among the citizens. The nurses from Kamakshi Hospital checked the eligibility of the donors. This campaign was instrumental in bringing good Samaritans including our parents to the fore front.

REPUBLIC DAY (SENIOR) 2016-17

Republic day was celebrated in our campus with patriotic fervour. The band welcomed the guest of honour of the day- “Miss. SaiAasheerwa of Std. 9 B” by playing the VIP call. The (Tricolour) National Flag was hoisted by the guest of honour. The flag was also pinned up proudly by every student. The students sang the National Anthem, the State song and a Hindi patriotic song with full vigour. A welcome speech was followed by a speech in English . A P.P.T. was also shown highlighting the role of the leaders who were responsible for framing the Constitution. A Patriotic song in Hindi was sung creating an atmosphere of national pride. This was followed by speeches in Hindi and Tamil. The Principal presented the Project day prizes to our talented students and also presented a memento to the guest of honour finally she addressed the students on their role and responsibilities and to safeguard the laws enforced and enshrined in our Constitution. The children dispersed after receiving chocolates.

REPUBLIC DAY (PRIMARY) 2016-17

The Republic day celebration was held in the morning with the welcome speech. This was followed by an English speech which highlighted the importance of the Constitution and the 68th Republic Day. The Hindi patriotic song that followed created an atmosphere of patriotism all around. This was followed by a speech in Tamil that inspired the students by emphasizing the importance and role of our leaders in framing of our Constitution. Our Principal addressed the students and enlightened them regarding the importance of the Constitution and their role in following the rules framed by our leaders. The students felt proud receiving the tricolour and the chocolates.

The Hindi play by the children of Classes III to V stole the hearts of the audience with the current issue of "Global Warming‟ and the urgency to take action. The sterling performance by the students in the English play "Food as a Miracle‟ brought to light the occurrence of food wastage. KannappaNayanar, one of the 63 Nayanmars whose unconditional love for Lord Shiva, was brought to life by the students of the Tamil play with their breathtaking performance. Overall, the Primary Annual day was a stupendous success and well appreciated by all.

SENIOR ANNUAL DAY 2016-17

Senior Annual Day was celebrated on 20th January 2017.It started with the prayer followed by the orchestra rendition of the Ganesha Pancharatnamsong. Next was an English play by the students of classes VI toVIII. This play is based on the concept of 'Time Travel' and the course of events in the lives of the School children. Next was Tamil play with the topic" yaarkaramam". This skit gave awareness about certain issues in our society. Our students showcased their talents by depicting the life history of Lord Ayyappa through dance drama. The story behind his birth, his celestial connections, the way he is favoured in his childhood are depicted through their marvelous expression. Last but not the least, our Students of classes IX & X performed an English skit about the role of mother and how she is taken for granted. The skit portrayed how a friend intervenes and brings a change in the family‟s outlook towards Annie, the mother.

KG ANNUAL DAY 2016-17

BVM Global @ Perungudi celebrated KG Annual day on 19th January 2017.All the students of PRE-KG, LKGand UKG participated with full vigour. Children of PRE-KG performed on the welcome song through which the audiences were welcomed for the show. Children of LKG participated in an action song based on the concept “Unity in diversity” among different cultures and languages in India. This was followed by an English play “The Three Butterflies”. Children of UKG presented a skit “The Selfish Giant” in which the giant realizes that selfless love of children. The little ones sang thanksgiving song showing their gratitude to parents and the Almighty for bringing them to this wonderful world. Overall KG Annual day was a fun filled programme and it was a pleasure watching the tiny tots performing on the stage.

EDUCATIONAL TOUR CLASS VII

The students of class VII visited Mahabalipuram on 21st January, 2017. The journey from Chennai to Mahabalipuram in the morning was an unmatched experience. In Mahabalipuram, the children were amazed by the natural rock formation called „Butter Rock‟ or „Krishna‟s Butter Ball which is precariously perched on a 45 degree slope. They also marveled at the architectural efforts of Pallavas after visiting the rock-cut rathas of Pandavas, the statues of elephants and Mahishasuramardhini‟s cave. The students observed that the carvings have eroded due to salty winds and thus are very less detailed. On the return journey, the students visited „Tiger caves‟ where they had lunch and played games. This was an amazing experience for students and teachers as it was very informative and fun-filled.

MUSIC CARNIVAL 2016-17

The first ever Music Carnival of the BVM Global Group of Schools, „Sanaa‟, was organized by BVM Global @ Perungudi in the school campus on the 11th and 12th of January 2017 . All the global schools participated in the Carnival. There were various competitions like Sloka Chanting, Sloka Antakshari, Solo Singing, Instrumental music and so on. The event was inaugurated by Mrs. Amrit Ramana Prasad, Trustee, BVM Global Group of Schools. Spread over two days the carnival showcased the musical talents of the students. The various events were judged by eminent experts of each field. There was intense competition amongst the participating schools and BVM Global @ Perungudi grabbed the overall Championship Trophy. The guests of honour for the Valedictory function were Ms.Revati Ramachandran a dancer, choreographer and teacher of Bharatanatyam and Ms.Preethy Mahesh, a trained classical vocalist. It was a wonderful experience for everybody.

PONGAL CELEBRATION 2016-17

Pongal celebration was held with lots of energy with enthusiasm. Students participated with vigour and rendered a variety of devotional songs. The speeches in Tamil and Hindi highlighted the significance and importance of the harvest festival and how this festival is celebrated in different states all over India. Classes 4 & 5 students performed a graceful dance which threw light on the cultural heritage of Tamilnadu. Students were shown the live preparation of Pongal (chakarai Pongal) in the school ground.

Our students of class IX Architha and Supraja participated in the regional level science exhibition conducted by CBSE. The exhibition was held at Jain Vidyashram Puzul. More than 110 schools from all over Tamilnadu participated. The students participated with enthusiasm and gave their best. It was a huge exposure for them.

GANIT WEEK 2016-17

GANIT (Growing Aptitude in Numerical and Innovations Training) week, an initiative of CBSE commemorating Srinivasa Ramanujan’s birth anniversary, was celebrated in BVM Global @ Perungudi, with great enthusiasm. A number of activities related to Mathematics were organized on 22nd December 2016 for students of Classes VI to IX to enhance their reasoning, logical thinking and problem solving skills.

Tongue twister competition was conducted for Class IV as a part of Literary Club on 5th December 2016.The activity focused on fluency, clarity and confidence of students. The ‘Picture Envelope’ activity was conducted for Class VII .The activity focused on adjectival phrases and writing skills. It not only helps the students to express their views through creative writing but also showcase their strength in grammar and writing skills.

Class Excursions 2,3 ,5 and 6

The students of Classes 2, 3, 5 and 6 went for their class excursions and enjoyed themselves thoroughly. The students of Class 2 went to the Crocodile Bank where they learnt about reptiles and they had lunch with their friends in a park near the Tiger Caves. Class 3 students went on an informative tour to the museum and came back with answers to a lot of their questions. Children of Class 5 went on a cultural trip to Dakshinachitra and learnt about the different kinds of houses and the cultural aspect of dwellings of a state or community. The students of Class VI went to Eco park and spent their day amidst nature. They also saw three dimensional movies on how to conserve their environment.

Fire Drill 2016-17

An interactive fire drill comprising of evacuation drill and demonstration of putting off different types of fire was conducted on 26th November, 2016 in the campus. The students evacuated from the building on a siren signal, assembled in the ground and were explained about various aspects of fire drill. The lecture included information about fire chemistry, stages of evacuation, types of fire and the respective ways of attacking them. Student volunteers were given hands- on experience on usage of the fire extinguisher installed in the campus.

Christmas Celebration 2016-17

Christmas was celebrated with fun and frolic on 23rd December 2016. Junior choir sang Christmas carols in praise of the Lord. The students of classes I & II sang a beautiful song and classes III & IV sang a song about the birth of Jesus Christ. The children of classes IV and V performed a dance with great energy. At the end of the program, Santa Clause arrived and filled the entire crowd with joy and danced with everyone with great enthusiasm. All the children enjoyed to the beats of “Jingle Bells” and chocolates were distributed to all.

World reading day 2016-17

To Commomerate World Reading Day on 4th Nov 2016 we conducted DEAR Programme (Drop Everything and read) in our school between 11.00 – 11.40 am. Children from Class I – X participated with great zeal and enthusiasm. The DEAR Programme was also observed by all the teaching and non – teaching faculty including our respected Principal Ma’am. This programme created an awareness and kindled the joy of reading a book and savouring the benefits that come with it for both students and teachers alike.

Student Exchange Programme 2016-17

Three students from BVM Global @ Perungudi ( Classes VIII and X) were a part of the group of 13 students and 2 teachers from BVM Global Group of schools who went for a exchange program to Perth, Western Australia. It was a 10 day trip (13th November to 22nd November, 2016) in which the students were exposed to the Australian culture, food and way of living. They also visited a school and mingled with the students there. It was a great learning experience for our students.

Srujan 2016-17

The Inter House Cultural Fest “Srujan- 2016” was conducted on 14th November to mark the celebration of Children’s Day. Various events were organized and students from the all the houses took part in them. The events were open to students of class VI to X. The on-stage events were dance, music and dumb- charades. The off stage events were flower decoration, junk art, T-shirt painting and treasure hunt. Students from various houses participated enthusiastically and won prizes. The overall trophy for the best house was won by Cauvery house.

Karuna Club 2016-17

Students visited the Blue Cross Society, Velachery on 5thNovember, 2016.Rice, dal, newspapers and old bed sheets were collected from the students, which in turn was handed over to the society authorities. Our students had the opportunity to see the birds and animals. Some part of the collections were given to an orphanage for the handicapped children in Aminjikarai. We would like to thank the parents for being so generous in donating for the cause

Project day 2016-17

Students of BVM GLOBAL@ PERUNGUDI celebrated their project day on 22nd October 2016 with great enthusiasm. The theme was ‘Food – Farm to table’. The children learnt about various facets of food beginning with the sources of foods to the end product, their preservation process, adulteration, medicinal values, different cuisines of around the world, table etiquettes, storage of food and consumption with its patterns. Along this culinary journey they also learnt the interdependence between humans and the Environment with relation to food consumption. It was a treat for the eyes and food for thought. The guests of honour were Mrs.R.Kalpana, additional director of National Agro Foundation and Mr.Uday Kumar, owner of Nala’s Appa Kadai, chain of restaurants.
