GANIT (Growing Aptitude in Numerical and Innovations Training) week, an initiative of CBSE commemorating Srinivasa Ramanujan’s birth anniversary, was celebrated on 23rd December 2024 at BVM Global @ Perungudi, with great enthusiasm.
The stage was decorated with the portraits of Srinivasa Ramanujam, drawn by students of class 7 and 9. The life history of Ramanujam and interesting facts about Ramanujam and his works were narrated in an interesting way to the students.
Junior students of grades 1 to 4, expressed their thoughts on the importance of mathematics in daily life and Shrinivas Ramanujan‟s contribution in mathematics.
The mesmerizing dance performance by students of classes 6 and 7 who displayed Mathematical concepts of Geometry, shape making, symmetry, patterns, repetitions, sequences and variations was well appreciated.
One of the most thrilling events was the Rubik’s cube solving competition. Rubik’s cube is more than just a colourful puzzle. Enthusiastic students, grade wise,showcased their problem solving skills and agility in manipulating Rubik’s cubes.
To encourage creativity and artistic skills, an embroidery competition was conducted for the students of classes 9 and 11. Students were asked to design a hat on the topic of ‘symmetry’ with embroidery patterns.
On 24.12.24 , the students witnessed an exciting parent-ward Rubik’s cube solving competition. Duo comprising parents and their ward worked together, showcasing their problem solving skills and fostering a unique bond through collaborative puzzle solving.
The Principal, Ms.Sripriya Lakshminarasimhan, emphasized the importance of Math in everyday life and encouraged the students to appreciate the subject and understand its significance in various fields. She also interestingly narrated how the rate of flow of water from a dam can be calculated using integration techniques.
In all, the GANIT week at BVM Global @ Perungudi was a great success as students and parents through this initiative by CBSE got a platform to enjoy numerals, display mathematical skills and perceive the connection of Mathematics and its concepts with real life.
