Himalayan Outdoor Leadership program
"In every walk with nature one receives more than he seeks" - John Muir.
BVM always strives towards holistic development in students. And what better way to instill these virtues than learning from Nature itself. With this goal in mind the school organized a trekking trip to the Himalayan ranges in the month of April. The trip was split into two batches of class XII and XI students accompanied by teachers. The expedition had four days of trekking in the woods of Himalayas exploring the flora and fauna of the region. Everyday the trek, despite being demanding, was felt worthy when the team reached the campsite and got to soak in the view of the snow cladded peaks. The team surely gained a lot of insights with new experiences like sleeping in tents, sharing closed quarters and picking up after themselves and their friends who fell behind. Mindfulness was key experience as students spent their time without phone and gadgets which in turn helped them in making new friends and socialize with the locals.
Overall the trip proved to be a rich learning experience for the students with plenty of opportunities to hone their leadership skills.
